'Maamme energia' ('Our Land's Energy') is a new Finnish opera produced by the Finnish Clean Energy Association. It tells the story of Finnish energy politics all the way from the 1970s to the 2050s, and includes both fun performances and presentations by experts in the field.
The way the opera presents issues and policies related to energy transition with music, art and humor is definitely new and interesting. The libretto is based on the book “Maamme energia” published in 2015. The book is a collaboration of ten prestigious professors of the field, including Aalto University's Minna Halme, Raimo Lovio and Matti Liski. The opera is composed by Mikko Helenius and directed by Ville Saukkonen, and the book was edited into a libretto by author and former Finnish MP Rosa Meriläinen.
The opera will include a prologue which will entail pitches from various projects of the Academy of Finland's Strategic Research Council, including Smart Energy Transition (SET).
